Construction Wars
Over the last three years, the Construction Wars element of the NCHBA Home Show has become one of the more anticipated competitions in the Valley! Once again, three teams will be competing not only against each other, but against the clock, too. The premise behind this "friendly" war is to raise as much money as possible for each of the three non-profit beneficiaries-oh, yeah-and for bragging rights, too!
The three construction teams will go head-to-head, starting on Friday, February 8. They'll be cutting, hammering and planning (well hopefully not necessarily in that order) until the competition clock runs out at 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 10. As always, creativity is the name-of-the-game in this year's competition!
This year, we placed a heavy emphasis on creativity, and wanted a project that would give these warriors the opportunity to really let their creative flair ‘cut loose'! Consequently, the '08 Construction Wars project is a THEMED DOG HOUSE. The sky's the limit when it comes to the endless possible themes from which they have to choose! (Will it be a popular Disney movie...a spin on an old classic...or something right out of a kid's imagination?)
The judging element has been altered this year. There will be ONE esteemed award given on Sunday, the "People's Choice Award", which will be determined by the amount of raffle tickets sold. So if you want your favorite project to win...make sure and buy as many tickets as you can! The winner will be announced on Sunday at 2:00 from the workshops stage!
Each of the three teams-The Apple Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross; The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society and the Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Wenatchee Area-will be selling raffle tickets for your chance to take home one of the three handcrafted dog houses! So, purchase generously to support these great organizations, and you may just walk away with a one-of-a-kind dog house that will certainly be the envy of any four legged friend! If you don't own a dog, trust me when I say these projects will look great in any yard!
We also encourage you to thank and support our Construction War sponsors and building teams for their time and sponsorship of this wonderful community event: NCW Community Bank, a division of Banner Bank, Lumbermens and VanAssche Homes (Red Team), benefiting The Apple Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross; Gale Contractor Services, Western Materials and Stimac Construction, Inc. (Purple Team), benefiting The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society; and Yahoo!, Marson & Marson Lumber and Gold Construction, Inc. (Blue Team), benefiting The Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Wenatchee Area. Their generous underwriting of the costs associated with this competition allows all funds (and more) raised through raffle ticket sales to go to each of the three non-profit organizations!

Last year's Construction Wars was a huge hit. This year three more teams will take part in the fun.
